As a membership site owner, chances are, you’ve done “the calculation”.

“If I get this number of members paying me this price each month, I’ll make…”

Are you nodding?  It’s ok, we’ve all done it

We joke about doing “the calculation” but it can be a good thing, especially if you’re planning and setting goals.

However, it’s VERY important to include variables like the “growth rate” and “retention rate” in your calculation (which most people don’t do and these will dramatically effect your overall profitability).


To make things easy, we’ve put together a very handy spreadsheet that does all the work for you…


The membership calculator takes into consideration four variables:

• Price – The price of your membership
• Growth Rate – The percentage by which you are growing each month
• Retention Rate – How many members you keep each month (as a percentage)
• # Of Members To Start – Month 1 projection (everything is based on this)

So all you need to do is fill in the appropriate numbers and the spreadsheet will do all the calculations for you

What you’ll find interesting is fine balance between your “growth rate” and “retention rate”.

For example, if you’re losing more members each month than you’re gaining, your overall revenue will continue to drop – which emphasizes the importance of continually improving your retention rate.

Another factor that can be “fun” to play with is the price.  It’s amazing how quickly your overall revenue can grow (or shrink) by adjusting the price up or down.

The same can be said for the “# of members to start”.  By having a good launch, you can REALLY kickstart your growth and monthly revenue.

So use the calculator for what it is, a TOOL.

Then focus on what it tells you (improve your retention rate, growth rate, raise your price etc.).
