Why Should I Create A Course?

The quick answer is Yes :)

I guess the logical follow up question would be… Why?

There are a number of reasons (increased community engagement, increased revenue, increased opportunity, etc.) why you should take the time and put forth the effort to develop a course based on your membership niche.

What exactly are these reasons?

You’ve Got (Some Of) What They Need

Let’s say you have an established membership site.
It might be a blog that you update regularly or perhaps it’s a thriving membership site with its own community. No matter the format, you most likely have some type of an audience who regularly come to you for a reason.

This audience may require answers to questions which you provide. Maybe you deliver helpful tips and advice on a particular subject. The bottom line is that your site gives members what they want or need.

Why not take it one step further?

Give A Little Bit More

Would it be worth your time to produce something that would be a benefit to your members and could also be used as a stand-alone product and even as a promotional tool?

I’m going to guess the quick answer to that question is Yes.

A course will give you these options.

If you create a course based on your membership niche, you can do SO much with it.

Here are just a few quick ways to let a course work for you.
Additional Content For Your Existing Membership
You can present the course to your members as an added Bonus. Since you never mentioned the course within your sales material then it will be viewed as “gravy” to any one who is a part of your community.
These types of free Add-Ons are welcomed by members who can immediately see the extra value in them.
Promotional Tool To Attract New Membership
You can promote the course as a special bonus available to anyone who signs up for your site over the course of the next week (or month).
Explain everything the course entails and make sure it’s clear that it is available at no extra charge to members.
Stand-Alone Product For Non-Members
Offer the course as a one-time purchase. This allows people who are still unsure if they want to sign up the option to still access the course content.
But be sure to also include links and opportunities for the non-members to still sign up for your community. Include references to your membership site and mention the benefits of being a member within the course material.
