When producing a lot of content for your membership site, you can at times, run out of steam. There may be times when you do not know where to go next with your writing or with the next step of your sites growth. To improve at anything, you must p
ractice, practice, practice. The more you do something, the more creative you will become and the easier it will be to ‘pull up’ that creative side when needed.
Maybe you want to create content for your website and you do not know where to start. Start by brainstorming.
Think about what you are good at, what you have a lot of knowledge regarding, or the online presence you are creating. Begin writing down words.
We all have our own personal way of doing things. No one way is correct. Whatever works for you is the best way. Sometimes I cannot sit at the computer and generate any kinds of ideas, let alone produce any content.
I guess I am old-fashion that way. Give me a tablet and a pen. Add a good cup of coffee and sunshine to the mix and I am good to go. The sunshine does not always cooperate though ;)
This may sound funny, but try talking to yourself. Yes, you heard me right! This may not work very well if you are not alone.
If you are alone, go for it! What do you have to lose? If we start saying ideas aloud, it can help to generate even more ideas.
“Good writers are good readers”.
I heard this quote a long time ago. It is absolutely true. If you want to generate good content, read. If you want to spark creativity, read.
There is a vast array of knowledge, instruction, and wisdom online and in books that will grow your creativity.
The more you know, the more creative you can become. If you lack knowledge in some area, it is difficult if not impossible to do anything creative with it. You must first take the time to learn and grow in that area. You can then put what you have learned into practice.
I love music. I personally love country, anything 80’s (may have aged myself, but oh well) and stuff by Toby Mac and Jars of Clay. I can play any of that loud and my heart starts pumping and my brain starts moving.
On occasion, I need music that is more soothing or just silence. Those times I love to listen to the birds outside my window.
One last thing to think about is where you are. Where is your office?
What is your environment like when you are trying to be creative? Do you have children running around and being loud? Or, is your desk facing a window where you can look out and watch the squirrels playing tag?
These elements make a big difference in our ability to concentrate which in turn plays into how creative we are. Do your creative work at times when your environment is ‘user friendly.’
